Relocation Services

Are you planning an international move to Guatemala? Whether moving due to job requirements, or for a personal change, relocating domestically can be complicated, but navigating an overseas move can be even more challenging. That is why we at Due South Travels take pride in eliminating the stress and guess work involved. Feeling at home in a new country means knowing the city or town that you’re living in, and a wise way to start would be to have us guide you through the process!

Language barriers as well as different customs and processes can take some adjustment. We are here to guide you through everything, from finding the neighborhood grocery store to setting yourself up with a local internet provider. You can rest assured that our team will compile an all-inclusive relocation package with pertinent information based on your specific needs to make this adjustment as seamless as possible.

What we can do:

  • Initial one-on-one consultation call (pre-departure planning for those who already know they are definitely moving, or an informal chat to discuss what to expect about life in Guatemala and if it would be something fitting for you!)

  • Full Relocation Tour Package - a custom-made itinerary for those looking to visit and explore one or two areas of the country for purposes of relocating. It would include a fully guided itinerary, accommodation, transportation, tours, Relocation Sessions with your Relocation Specialist, some meals, and lots of information!

  • A la carte Relocation Sessions - scheduled in-person, or virtually with a Relocation Specialist to cover the topics of your choice

  • A la carte Relocation Services - orientation tours, settling-in services (ex. assisting with contracting a new cell phone plan), home search, school search and placement, etc.

Relocation Session Topics:

  • Realistic Budgeting, Finances, and Banking Services

  • Immigration to Guatemala

  • Medical Care and Health Insurance

  • Accessibility, Shopping, Keeping in Touch

  • Getting to Know Guatemala and the Capital City

  • Real Estate Matters (Antigua, Lake Atitlan, or Guatemala City)

  • Resources and Logistics

  • We can also customize any sessions to your specific needs: ex. Schools, Starting a Business

What we don't do:

Our Relocation Services Program isn't a sales pitch. Our goal is not necessarily to get you to move to Guatemala. As much as we love it here, we know it might not be for everyone. We hope that at the end of your time with us, you consider your Relocation Specialist a friend that is available to you for ongoing support during your decision-making process or overseas move! We want you to feel well informed so you can make a logical decision if Guatemala is the right place for your and your family.  We consider our Relocation Services an investment into your future. If Guatemala isn't the place for you, perhaps our services will give you a great idea of the questions you should ask as you explore other areas of the world!

What it costs:

We create custom-made itineraries for those who are coming to explore. They can vary in length and we will prepare something with accommodation in your budget range, as discussed prior to the itinerary planning. An example: For a mid-range budget, two people, seven days, six nights, to include everything except meals, the cost hovers around $2700. That includes private transportation, a fully guided itinerary, tours of your choosing, stays in two different locations in Guatemala (for example, Atitlan and Antigua) and all Relocation Sessions, including printed materials and ongoing support. If you're just looking for a chat for an hour long session on the topic of your choosing, it is a flat $40 fee.

Pretty soon, we hope to schedule a few group tours per year where like-minded individuals participate in a Relocation Tour together! Check back for prices and dates!

We've already served a number of other foreigners who are exploring relocation and would be happy to provide references upon request.
